Looks scary if you are new to this, but don't be scared. It is a wonderful feather and works great on many quilts from repro to contemorary. I like it best when you load the quilt sideways so the feather runs vertically on the quilt. Maybe not for a true beginner, but you don't need many quilts under your belt to give this a try.
